I have to tell you-your blog is really firing on all eight cylinders these days. You've been posting so much great stuff that I've been so busy downloading, I haven't been able to keep up with the listening. And I'm NOT complaining! Best regards from Michigan in the Great Lakes region of the USA and many, many thanks for all the hard work you put into your site and all your generosity.

Robert

P.S. You don't, by any chance, have an album by the Bob Florence Big Band called "Bongos, Reeds, Brass" do you. A few cuts from it have appeared in compilations and it sounds like the whole album might be a corker.

I'm sorry, but I have not the Bob Florence's Album that you mention.

Lovely to see someone has stumbled on Gordon Franks Orchestral in the Night LP. I used to sell the Gordon Franks records when they were first released in 1967 during my job working then in a Record Shop in Bournemouth England.

The Decca Deram series was truly superb including "Strings in the Night" which I still have on LP and CD. Although some have said Easy Listening is more like music we used to call "Wallpaper music" of the type they played in elevators and Supermarkets to keep you in a subdued mood! It was actually a lot better than that. Gordon Franks Orchestra was often on BBC Radio 2 late in the evening and his "sound" was creamy silky-smooth strings rather similar to Frank Chacksfield and Percy Faith during that wonderful era of Light Orchestral Music.

I love the French influence film- music on "Strings in the Night" and the old chart hits like "I remember You". Thanks for putting this up on your page and for making these available to the public again. It's a very long time since they were deleted from the catalogue. Very nice blog you have set up and here's to Brazil and their wonderful musical culture that we all crave in the UK.
